USCAN serves as the focal point for global climate change activitiesin the United States. Made up of over thirty environment,development and energy non-governmental organizations, thenetwork works to inform and affect U.S. and international policies.With an office and a coordinator in Washington, DC, USCAN alsoworks on the global network's interaction with the internationalfinancial institutions such as the Global Environment Facility and theWorld Bank. U.S. NGOs have highly professional staffs withwell-developed climate and energy policy programmes, setting thestage for their heavy involvement in national energy policies, both ona state and national basis. USCAN has contributed to the scientificcapacity of the NGO community within the Framework Convention onClimate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. USCAN is the regional node of the Climate Action Network, whichhas nodes all across the world, which also act as umbrella groups fortheir regional climate change programs.
