Detailed Information:
Fort Worth is one of the few cities in the nation that has a department dedicated solely to assuring the city's own compliance with state and federal environmental regulations as well as responding to the community's environmental issues. The department consists of several interdisciplinary teams encompassing Air Quality, Compliance, Household Chemical Waste, Public Education, and Storm Water Quality. The Public Education Team runs a Speakers Bureau that gives presentations to community groups on topics such as ozone pollution, protection of our creeks and rivers, and household chemical waste. The department also leads an informal citizens' Environmental Council that serves as a vehicle to keep concerned citizens and environmental interest groups aware of City efforts and legislative trends.
