Detailed Information:
Pakistan Vegetarian Society (PVS) established in 2001 by a few Pakistani vegetarians/vegans, is a non-profit organization run by the members of the society voluntarily with the primary objectives of promoting humanitarian, moral, and nutritional aspects of vegetarianism through all possible ways including research and education, and linking individuals and organizations that believe in the principles of vegetarianism.

Pakistanis society is predominantly non-vegetarian but the Pakistan Vegetarian Society has accepted the challenge to promote the true spirit of vegetarianism by all possible means, to make the people more humane and protect the innocent animals from cruelty and struggle against the madness of meat-eating.

Pakistan Vegetarian Society has no religious affiliations and seeks to encompass a wide range of vegetarianism. Yet the PVS is very young and is trying to establish links with people with similar missions to promote the vegetarianism in its true spirit of humanitarianism.

Aims of the Society

To promote the humanitarian, moral, and nutritional aspects of vegetarianism/veganism through all possible means

To disseminate information on the benefits of vegetarianism for mankind and the environment

To link individuals and organizations that believe in the moral and humanitarian principles of vegetarianism/veganism

To provide an organized forum to the vegetarians from Pakistan to make their "humane voice" more effective, in favor of vegetarianism.

To provide support to vegetarians and all others moving in this direction

To generate public awareness of the cruelty involved in the imprisonment and killing of animals

To discourage the use of any product that has been produced or developed by harming any living creature

Activities/programs of the Society

Pakistan Vegetarian Society is yet in its developing stage, but our selected number of current members are working very hard to start some activities to promote vegetarianism in the country like Pakistan. The PVS is planning to start the following programs in near future

To hold exhibitions and talks at public areas and educational institutions to spread the awareness and benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle

To organize talks, presentations, cookery lessons, and social gatherings such as monthly dinners and visits to organic farms

The members of the PVS will be in regular contact with one another through newsletters and electronic media (like internet, etc.)

To establish regional offices in Islamabad and the capital cities of all four provinces of Pakistan viz. Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar

To provide medicines to relieve pains of those unattended and brutally-attended animals, like donkeys of carts, horses of Tanags (a type of Pakistani cart for carrying passengers), poultry animals, etc.
