The Centerís director, John de Bry, is an accomplished paleographer specializing in 16th, 17th, and 18th century manuscript documents related to voyages of exploration, colonization, and exploitation of the New World, as well as maritime traffic between the Old Continent and the Americas, with an emphasis on the French colonial period.
